Investigation Uncovers Homicide in Apparent Suicide
8 Mar
Summary
- Husband charged with murder after wife's death investigation.
- Initial explanation of self-inflicted injury contradicted evidence.
- Autopsy revealed defensive wounds and multiple stab injuries.

Authorities in London, Ohio, have charged Kyle Long, 35, with the murder of his wife, Rachel Long, following a four-month investigation. The case initially suggested Rachel's death on October 23, 2025, was self-inflicted. Kyle Long reported finding his wife with stab wounds in their master bathroom.
Investigators discovered significant discrepancies between Kyle's account and the physical evidence. An autopsy revealed at least 17 sharp-force injuries and defensive wounds on Rachel's arms and hands, leading the coroner to rule the death a homicide.
Further investigation into Rachel's phone records showed no indication of suicidal intent; she was actively planning future events with a friend shortly before her death. Kyle Long is currently held on a $1.5 million bond and has not entered a plea as the case proceeds.
