A father in Vienna Township, Ohio, is facing serious charges following a domestic disturbance on Saturday, May 9. Jeffrey Canzonetta, 56, was accused by his 22-year-old daughter of strangulation and domestic violence after an argument concerning the state of her bedroom.
The altercation reportedly began when Canzonetta made critical remarks about his daughter's messy room. Despite her requests for him to leave, he allegedly advanced towards her. His wife, Maria, stated she woke to the commotion and was also allegedly pushed to the ground by Canzonetta when she attempted to intervene.
Following these events, Canzonetta allegedly wrapped his hands around his daughter's neck, choking her until she struggled to breathe. He then departed for work, but was apprehended by the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office at his place of employment later that afternoon.
Canzonetta was subsequently charged with felony strangulation and two misdemeanor counts of domestic violence. He appeared in Girard Municipal Court on Monday, May 11, and was released on $7,500 bail. The sheriff's office records confirmed the charges against him.
