Two individuals, identified as Amanda Leigh Wakut, 33, and Richard Eastin, 35, were discovered fatally shot within a Lakewood, Ohio residence on Sunday, June 21. The Lakewood Police Department is investigating the incident, which concluded tragically with the suspected perpetrator's suicide.
The investigation commenced early Sunday morning after police received a report detailing a chilling phone call. The caller, a 45-year-old man identified as Wakut's boyfriend, allegedly informed his ex-wife that he had fatally shot two people and intended to end his own life.
Responding officers observed a vehicle fleeing the scene at high speed. The driver eventually stopped, exited the vehicle, and fatally shot himself with a handgun as officers attempted to engage him. Authorities subsequently recovered the bodies of Wakut and Eastin from the residence.
Lakewood Police have stated that the motive behind the killings is currently undetermined, and the investigation remains active. Wakut is remembered as a devoted mother and power-lifter, while Eastin is described as a genuine and loyal friend.
