A police officer was assaulted and headbutted while arresting two men on suspicion of drug-related activities outside a McDonald's drive-thru in Newark. Nottinghamshire Police responded to the Lincoln Road location on Friday following a tip about individuals inhaling laughing gas inside a car.
Upon arrival, officers found nitrous oxide canisters and cannabis within the vehicle, which was also suspected to be stolen. Two men, aged 19 and 21, were subsequently arrested. The assault on the officer occurred as the men were being taken into custody.
