Summary
- Officer accepted ₹31.17 lakh for a fake bank job promise.
- Victim's daughter worked as a trainee for three years.
- The accused officer was arrested on August 15, 2026.

A Vasai block education officer has been arrested in connection with a significant financial fraud. The accused, Chhatarsingh Rajput, aged 55, was taken into custody on August 15, 2026, following a complaint registered on August 8, 2026. He is alleged to have defrauded a resident of Karanjade village of Rs 31.17 lakh.
Rajput reportedly promised a permanent job at a government bank for the complainant's daughter, Sonu alias Tinkle Jadhav, aged 27. Trusting the assurance, the complainant, Parmeshwar Jadhav, a Gram Sevak, transferred the sum in stages through bank transfers and cash from 2023 onwards.
Further investigation revealed that Rajput had arranged for Sonu to work as a trainee at a Bank of Baroda branch in Goregaon. However, after three years, when she had not received salary increments or benefits of a permanent employee, the complainant became suspicious. An inquiry with the bank's head office confirmed that no one by his daughter's name was directly employed, and she was being paid by a private company as a trainee.
When questioned about the discrepancies, Rajput provided evasive responses, leading Jadhav to file a complaint with the Panvel city police. The accused was arrested from his residence in Vasai and has been remanded to police custody until August 19, 2026. His aide, Anil Kumbhar, who is also implicated, is currently being traced.
