A male warden at the Red Cross School for the Blind, Deaf, and Mute in Paramanandapur, Kalahandi, Odisha, faces accusations of physical and sexual harassment from multiple students. Sandhya Darshan Mahapatra is alleged to have touched girl students inappropriately and physically manhandled them.
Students also reported that boys attempting to report these incidents were subjected to severe physical and mental punishment by the school staff. Videos and written complaints reportedly depict the physically impaired students using gestures to signal their distress.
District authorities have initiated an investigation into the allegations. A committee has been formed, headed by the Additional District Magistrate (ADM-General), to probe the complaints. The District Child Protection Officer confirmed that if the allegations are proven true, strict legal action will be taken.
