Tangi police in Cuttack district have arrested three individuals in connection with the deaths of Mohammed Shoaib, 21, and Prasanta Kumar Jena, 24. The pair were allegedly lynched near Nirgundi railway station on the early morning of December 31st, suspected of being thieves.
The arrested accused, identified as Dilip Kumar Nayak, Gyanaranjan Mohanty, and Baula Singh, reportedly confronted Shoaib and Jena on a garage premise. Believing them to be intruders, the confrontation escalated, resulting in the victims being assaulted with crowbars. Both Shoaib and Jena succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Investigators stated that three more individuals involved in the incident are currently being sought. Reports indicate the victims were stripped and tied to poles before the brutal assault, which left them with multiple severe injuries.
