Prosecutors stated Shaw allegedly shot Hidalgo nine times at close range shortly after Hidalgo returned from a morning walk with her dog.
Hidalgo, a five-year veteran of the OCSD, called 911 and attempted CPR on Shaw, but paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. Shaw worked with the Orange County Health Care Agency for nearly six years. Authorities noted the couple was preparing for a destination wedding in Mexico in November 2025. Hidalgo turned herself in to Tustin police after the charges were filed and remains on administrative leave.
