- Created fake social media account to post vulgar content about the victim

In a disturbing case of stalking and harassment, the Ulwe Police in Mumbai have arrested a 26-year-old Delhi resident named Akshay Kishanlal Dua. Dua had befriended the victim, whose identity is being withheld, through work-related interactions in 2022. However, when the woman attempted to end the friendship due to Dua's aggressive behavior, he became increasingly hostile and obsessive.
To torment the victim, Dua allegedly placed numerous cash-on-delivery orders, including groceries, chocolates, fruits, and even condoms, via home delivery apps, causing her repeated embarrassment and distress. He also sent the victim abusive and sexually explicit emails, text messages, and WhatsApp messages, threatening her and her family members. Additionally, Dua created a fake Instagram account using the woman's photographs and posted vulgar, defamatory captions aimed at damaging her reputation.
The victim's parents tried to convince Dua to stop his harassment, but he emotionally blackmailed them and challenged them to file a police complaint. Based on the victim's complaint and the evidence provided, the Ulwe Police arrested Dua and registered a case against him for stalking, criminal intimidation, cyber harassment, and defamation. Dua was produced before the court and remanded to police custody last week.
