One of the posts from the compromised @obamawhitehouse account, which has over 2.4 million followers, claimed "The White House is under Shiites' control." While screenshots of the illicit content circulated, Meta confirmed the posts were scrubbed and the account returned to its normal state. Obama, who has not used this specific account since leaving office in January 2017, was not personally impacted, as his personal Instagram account, boasting over 42 million followers, remained unaffected. This incident is not the first time Obama has been targeted, as his Twitter account was compromised in a Bitcoin scam in 2020.
