An Oahu grand jury has indicted a 32-year-old man on a charge of second-degree murder. This indictment stems from the beating death of his 70-year-old father, Jesus Black, which occurred on June 10.
Police found the defendant, Joshua Black, in a Liliha intersection during an apparent mental health crisis. He was taken for evaluation. Later that day, Jesus Black was found by his wife at their apartment, severely injured and struggling to breathe.
Jesus Black was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries four hours later. His mother reportedly told police her son had a history of mental health issues, including schizophrenia and depression. Joshua Black is currently held without bail.
