Edward Luyo, a 44-year-old man, tragically lost his life on Tuesday, March 31, after being struck by a vehicle in New York City. The incident occurred as Luyo was crossing Whitney Avenue near Macnish Street.
He was hit by a 2015 gray Nissan Versa, and the driver, identified as 53-year-old Jose Dilone-Duran, reportedly fled the scene. Luyo was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His girlfriend mentioned receiving a missed call from him approximately 20 minutes before the fatal collision.
A GoFundMe has been established to support Luyo's family with funeral and memorial expenses. Dilone-Duran was later apprehended by police and faces charges for leaving the scene of a fatal accident. An investigation into the crash is currently ongoing.
