NY Bus Aide Restrains Special Needs Students

Devone Medlock, a 37-year-old school bus aide working with special needs students at Grand Avenue School in Uniondale, New York, was arrested on Tuesday, March 17. The arrest follows an incident reported on January 13, where Medlock allegedly exhibited physically and verbally abusive behavior towards multiple students.
Detectives stated that Medlock is accused of pushing, slamming, restraining, and sitting on the children. The Uniondale School District was alerted to the disturbing incident in January and immediately contacted law enforcement.
Medlock, of Amityville, was taken into custody from his home. He was immediately terminated from his role with First Student, the contractor for the school district. He faces six counts each of third-degree assault, menacing in the third degree, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was scheduled for arraignment on March 21.
