A critical incident investigation has commenced following a violent sequence of events in Tuncurry, New South Wales, on the morning of February 6, 2026. Police responded to reports of a home invasion at a Heath Avenue residence.
Officers arrived to find a 28-year-old woman suffering from severe stab wounds. She received immediate medical attention and was subsequently airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in serious but stable condition.
During the pursuit of the male offender, who had fled the scene in a white four-wheel drive, police located him at Idlewood Drive, Rainbow Flat. The man, armed with a knife, attempted to steal another vehicle after entering a property.
