A public inquiry is underway in London concerning the triple fatal stabbing attacks carried out by Valdo Calocane on June 13, 2023. Senior social worker Emily Doherty assessed Calocane, who has paranoid schizophrenia, and found he showed a 'lack of remorse' and a disregard for the seriousness of his offences. He stated that 'everything happens for a reason' and appeared passive when discussing murder.
During custody, Calocane informed a doctor he was hearing voices 'all the time,' described as commanding and a running commentary. He also experienced visual and olfactory hallucinations. Despite assessments, access to his full medical records was limited. Calocane pleaded guilty to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility and is now serving an indefinite hospital order.
