A public inquiry into the fatal June 2023 Nottingham attacks has heard emotional testimony from witnesses. Recordings of 999 calls were played, capturing the immediate aftermath of the stabbings that claimed the lives of students Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar. One witness described seeing a victim lying in the road with "blood all over their chest," expressing profound shock with repeated phrases like "my God that's awful."
Another caller reported hearing screams and seeing two young people, a girl and a guy, lying in the street, fearing they had been robbed or worse. These emergency calls detailed the confusion and fear experienced by bystanders, some of whom were observing from a distance. The inquiry is being chaired by retired senior judge Deborah Taylor KC and is continuing its examination of the tragic events.
