In Noida's Sector 74, a tenant and her friend were taken into custody following an alleged assault on maintenance staff. The confrontation, captured on CCTV at Supertech Cape Town, occurred around midnight on Saturday, June 21, 2026, when the tenant, Jyoti Mishra, and her friend returned to find a power outage and non-operational diesel generator (DG) backup in their flat.
Upon visiting the society's maintenance office, Mishra reportedly argued with the night desk staff member, Kamal Singh, about the DG backup not being extended to her flat, a service reportedly recently stopped for some residents. The altercation escalated, with footage showing Mishra slapping Singh multiple times, while her friend restrained him. Other staff members attempted to intervene.
This incident led to tensions within the society and prompted a police response. Both Mishra and her friend were placed under preventive detention and produced before a court. The society's AOA has issued Mishra a notice to vacate and levied a Rs 50,000 penalty for disrupting essential services. Mishra, however, alleged crude behavior from the maintenance staff member on a prior occasion and denied setting files on fire.
