Fake News Fuels Noida Worker Unrest
15 Apr
Summary
- FIR registered against social media users for fake videos.
- Old video from Shahdol falsely claimed as Noida incident.
- Misleading posts aimed to incite unrest and worsen situation.

Authorities in Noida have escalated their actions concerning recent violence, filing an FIR on April 14, 2026, against numerous social media users. These individuals are accused of distributing fake and inflammatory videos intended to disrupt public peace. The cyber crime police station named RJD leader Priyanka Bharti and Dr. Kanchana Yadav as defendants, along with approximately 150 unidentified persons.
An investigation revealed that an old video, dated April 11, 2026, originating from Shahdol, was falsely circulated as a Noida incident. This video, depicting a drunk man causing a disturbance, was shared with misleading captions to provoke public outrage. Additionally, a separate claim of arson in Sector 62 was found to be fabricated.
These misleading posts surfaced amidst ongoing protests by workers in Sectors 1 and 6, which led to road blockades. The protests saw property damage and injuries, including a Sub-Inspector. Police believe the deliberate spread of false information aimed to incite unrest and aggravate the already tense law and order situation.
