Family of Five Found Dead Amid Property Dispute
19 Oct
Summary
- Five family members died, including three children, in Greater Noida home.
- Four audio recordings suggest family property dispute led to deaths.
- Three relatives arrested for abetment to suicide charges.
Tragedy struck in Greater Noida's Rabupura area on Saturday when five members of a family, identified as Mahesh, his wife Lalita (35), and their children Laddu (11), Mishti (7), and Sakshat (3), were found deceased in their home. The discovery was made when a neighbor's child went to call the children for an examination. All five were found frothing at the mouth with no visible external injuries. The house gate was bolted from the inside, and CCTV footage showed no unauthorized entry.
Investigations have led to the arrest of Mahesh's sisters, Sunita (45) and Sapna (32), and Sunita's husband, Shekhar (50), all from Delhi, on charges of abetment to suicide. Authorities revealed that four audio recordings recovered from Mahesh's phone implicated the arrested individuals in a family property dispute. These recordings suggested that Mahesh's sister, Sunita, had allegedly influenced their mother to transfer the family home into her name, causing distress to Mahesh.
While initial suspicions leaned towards food poisoning as the cause of death, as the family had consumed noodles and tea prior to sleeping, preliminary food safety inspections were inconclusive. The exact cause of death remains undetermined, pending the results of forensic analysis on preserved viscera samples. The sequence of events on Friday night, including Lalita's return from a local fair and Mahesh staying home with their son, is under scrutiny.
