Noah Donohoe: Inquest hears of tidal tunnel danger
7 May
Summary
- Noah's body was found in a tidal drainage tunnel six days after his disappearance.
- The tunnel area would have been filled with sea water on the night he vanished.
- Locks were added to culvert hatches after Noah's death due to public interest.

An inquest has revealed critical details regarding the disappearance and death of schoolboy Noah Donohoe. His body was found six days after he went missing, located in a tidal section of an underground drainage tunnel. This area, situated near the M2 motorway, would have been submerged in seawater on the night of June 21, 2020, the day Noah disappeared.
Officials from the Department for Infrastructure confirmed that the maintenance of the drainage system met industry standards prior to Noah's death. While the site showed no signs of unauthorized access like graffiti or litter, concerns were raised about an unlocked hatch at the culvert inlet, potentially allowing entry. Following Noah's death, locks were installed on all culvert hatches due to public interest and fears of copy-cat incidents.
