New Jersey authorities have arrested Paul Yang, a 32-year-old fourth-grade teacher, on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The alleged incident occurred in a classroom at Paterson Public School No. 25, with a second student reportedly present at the time. Yang, who had been employed by the district since 2021, was fired on the day of his arrest.
The investigation began in October after a tip regarding a possible child assault. According to court records, Yang allegedly used a blindfold and a lollipop in a disturbing manner during the assault. Prosecutors have requested pretrial detention for Yang, who faces a potential 20-year prison sentence if convicted.
School officials have not yet commented on the arrest. Authorities are urging anyone with further information regarding the case to come forward and contact the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office. The school district has initiated procedures to address the situation and support affected students.
