NJ Cops Deliver Food After Driver Arrest
5 Mar
Summary
- Police arrested a DoorDash driver during a traffic stop.
- Officers completed the driver's two food deliveries themselves.
- Similar incidents occurred recently in New Mexico and Arizona.

Police in Washington Township, New Jersey, took community service to an unexpected level recently. During a routine traffic stop for a violation, officers discovered the driver had active warrants from another county and proceeded with an arrest. The driver informed the officers that he was in the middle of two DoorDash deliveries.
Instead of leaving the orders unfinished, two officers decided to complete the deliveries themselves. Body camera and doorbell footage captured the officers arriving at a customer's home to deliver the food, much to the resident's surprise. The department later posted about the incident, apologizing for startling the recipient while confirming the food was delivered.
This incident is reminiscent of similar events in other states. Last year, a motorcycle officer in New Mexico completed a DoorDash delivery after arresting the driver for an insurance ticket. In July, officers in Tempe, Arizona, also delivered a GrubHub order after stopping the driver.
