Gregory M. Dietz, a 34-year-old patrol officer with the Florham Park Police Department, has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault, fourth-degree stalking, harassment, and trespassing. These charges stem from an incident on July 5, 2026, where a Roseland resident reported that Dietz slapped her and applied pressure to her neck, causing her to lose consciousness. The victim stated she had met Dietz in June 2025 and had repeatedly asked him to stop unwanted contact.
According to an arrest affidavit, Dietz allegedly escalated his advances, including unwanted physical contact in November 2025 and showing up at the victim's apartment building on July 5, 2026, after being blocked from all forms of communication. The victim granted him entry to end their acquaintance, but the situation reportedly led to the alleged assault. Dietz was arrested by Roseland police on July 20, 2026, and held for four days before release. As of September 10, 2026, he was still listed on the Florham Park police roster.
