Grand Jury Indicts Nick Reiner in Double Murder
20 Aug
Summary
- Nick Reiner faces murder charges for parents' deaths.
- Siblings Jake and Romy testified before the grand jury.
- Special circumstances could mean death penalty or life without parole.

A Los Angeles grand jury has indicted Nick Reiner on two counts of first-degree murder. The indictment, unsealed on August 12, follows accusations that Nick brutally murdered his filmmaker father and producer mother, Michele Singer Reiner, in December 2025 at their Los Angeles home. His siblings, Jake and Romy Reiner, testified before the grand jury that issued the indictment.
The indictment includes special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and 'lying in wait,' indicating Nick allegedly surprised his victims. The use of a knife in the commission of the crimes is also alleged. Nick has pleaded not guilty to these charges, as well as the original murder counts.
These special circumstances, if proven, could result in increased penalties, including the possibility of the death penalty or life in prison without parole. Prosecutors have not yet declared their stance on seeking the death penalty. Nick Reiner remains in custody without bail and is currently petitioning a California court to access his estimated $1.5 million trust fund to secure private legal defense. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for September, but no trial date has been set.
