13 Feb
Summary
- A jury found a Newnan gun store owner guilty of murder for his girlfriend's death.
- The owner was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
- Evidence proved the victim was shot from a distance, contradicting suicide claims.

William Brannon Owens, 40, a Newnan gun store owner, was convicted of felony murder on February 11, 2026, for the September 20, 2024, shooting death of his girlfriend, Olivia Robinson. The Coweta County jury's verdict followed a seven-day trial.
Owens received a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole, plus an additional 15 years. Prosecutors presented evidence that Robinson, 28, died from a single gunshot wound to the face, inflicted from 12 to 18 inches away, refuting Owens' claim of suicide.
Evidence showed Owens was heavily intoxicated at the time, with a blood alcohol content significantly above the legal limit, and diazepam in his system. A 16-year-old employee testified to Owens' erratic behavior earlier that evening, including giving the minor a handgun.
Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot shortly after Robinson went to the back office to consult Owens about a rifle's price. Owens was found weeping over Robinson's body. He was also convicted of multiple other charges, including aggravated assault and involuntary manslaughter.
