In Ghaziabad, a 22-year-old woman was apprehended last week for allegedly killing her newborn daughter minutes after delivery. The infant was reportedly thrown from a terrace, with the intention of concealing the body. However, the baby tragically landed on a neighbor's roof, leading to the discovery.
The woman claimed poverty prevented hospital visits and asserted the newborn was stillborn. This account was contradicted by a post-mortem report, which indicated the baby girl was alive and sustained fatal injuries, including a broken skull and fractured bones, within an hour of birth.
Investigators revealed the mother, who had desperately wanted a son, admitted to throwing the living infant. She had previously sought an abortion due to discovering the fetus was female, but was refused. She is now booked under Section 91 of the BNS for causing death immediately after birth.
