20 Jan
Summary
- A new online portal allows crime victims to contact case officers.
- The service aims to improve victim experience and reduce 101 calls.
- It covers 19 crime types including burglary, fraud, and violence.

A new online portal has been introduced to allow victims of crime to obtain updates directly from the officers managing their cases. South Yorkshire Police launched the National My Police Portal with the goal of enhancing the victim experience.
This new service is intended to reduce the volume of calls to the non-emergency 101 line. It will be available for victims of 19 distinct crime categories.
These include offenses such as burglary, fraud, theft, violence with injury, robbery, and arson. Superintendent Richard Hammond acknowledged the need for better update provision and views this portal as a key technical solution. The initiative aims to provide a more efficient communication channel for victims.
