A peaceful evening in Dinsmore turned to terror for a local family when a neighbor allegedly targeted their children with racial slurs. The incident occurred last night when ten children, ranging in age from five to eleven, were playing outside.
According to Darius Brock, his son reported that their neighbor, James Odneal, was screaming racial epithets at the children. When Brock and his wife confronted Odneal, the situation rapidly escalated. Brock stated that Odneal then produced a handgun and pointed it at him and his children, prompting the terrified youngsters to flee.
Milo, Brock's ten-year-old son, recounted the harrowing experience, describing how he and the other children ran and hid after seeing the gun. Odneal was subsequently arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill. Jail logs confirm Odneal remains in custody.
