Tragedy struck Gokulpur village in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district on Monday night when a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed. The alleged assailant is a neighbor, identified as Vishal Kumar, who reportedly became enraged after not receiving an invitation to a birthday party.
Kumar, who was allegedly intoxicated, arrived at the party and caused a disturbance. When the victim, Arjun alias Pankaj, intervened and attempted to de-escalate the situation, a scuffle ensued. Kumar then allegedly stabbed Arjun multiple times and slit his throat.
Following the attack, angry villagers apprehended Kumar, assaulting him before locking him in a house. Police had to force entry to take the accused into custody. Arjun's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and legal proceedings are underway as authorities investigate the incident, including allegations of casteist remarks made by the accused.
