A dispute over noise in an apartment complex led to a fatal shooting on Wednesday, May 27. Joshua Jordan, 32, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide after allegedly shooting his upstairs neighbor, 42-year-old Gregory McElwee Jr. The landlord had previously received numerous complaints from Jordan about noise from McElwee's apartment, including threats.
On the morning of the shooting, Jordan reportedly confronted McElwee in the hallway. The victim's teenage son witnessed the argument and saw Jordan armed with a handgun. The son reported that Jordan yelled threats and then began firing shots at his father, ultimately kicking open the apartment door.
McElwee was found with apparent gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. Jordan fled in a black Audi but was pursued by police for four miles before crashing and being arrested. Jordan's preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 11.
