Patrick Tyson, 56, is accused of pouring rubbing alcohol on a woman and her seating area before igniting it with a lighter. The victim's shirt consequently caught fire, though she fortunately escaped physical burns. This alarming incident was reportedly preceded by Tyson demanding a beer and threatening to set her ablaze if she did not comply.
Tyson's arrest follows a domestic dispute called in by authorities to a residence on Chipper Curve Road. He has been charged with felony assault with intent to kill, first-degree arson, misdemeanor assault on a female, and misdemeanor injury to personal property. The fire caused damage to the couch and carpet, and Tyson is also accused of damaging a stove.
The suspect is currently held on a $750,000 bond at Jackson County Jail and is scheduled for a court appearance on December 1st. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of domestic disputes escalating to extreme violence.
