Unidentified DNA Sparks Investigation in Arizona Kidnapping
15 Feb
Summary
- Unidentified DNA found on property led to detainments.
- Three individuals were detained in connection to the disappearance.
- Guthrie's abduction is being investigated with a $100,000 reward.

Authorities in Tucson, Arizona, recently detained three individuals as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie. The significant police presence, including a SWAT team and forensics, occurred at a Pima County home. Detectives were led to this property by a federal court-ordered search warrant based on a received lead.
No arrests were made following the operation, and Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that Guthrie was not found at the residence. A third person of interest was detained separately during a traffic stop and later released. The investigation gained new momentum after authorities revealed that DNA collected from Guthrie's property did not belong to her or anyone close to her.
Guthrie was reported missing from her southern Arizona home on February 1. Video footage from her doorbell camera shows an armed man in a ski mask around the time she is believed to have been abducted. The FBI is now offering up to $100,000 for information that could lead to her recovery or the arrest of her captor.
