A police constable, Kunal Singh, was physically assaulted and his private car extensively damaged by a group of young men on Nagpur's Mankapur Ring Road on the night of June 28. The confrontation began when a motorcycle, part of a group of seven to eight recklessly ridden bikes, grazed Singh's car. The bikers then intercepted Singh, blocking his vehicle and launching an assault accompanied by abuse. The entire incident was recorded by a nearby CCTV camera, providing crucial evidence for the police investigation. Singh sustained injuries and was taken to a private hospital. Mankapur police swiftly acted on the CCTV footage and other technical evidence, arresting 14 individuals in connection with the attack. Some of the arrested have prior criminal records. The police also seized five motorcycles and recovered property valued at approximately Rs 5.60 lakh, addressing concerns about reckless biking and mob violence.
