Nagarjuna Shares Family's "Digital Arrest" by Fraudsters

In November 2025, renowned actor Nagarjuna Akkineni revealed that one of his family members had been subjected to a "digital arrest" by fraudsters around 6 months prior. Speaking at a press conference alongside the Telangana Police Commissioner, Nagarjuna said the perpetrators had tracked his family and tried to exploit their vulnerabilities.

The digital arrest, a growing form of cybercrime, involves fraudsters posing as law enforcement or government officials to intimidate victims through audio/video calls and extort money. Nagarjuna stated that in his own home, his family member had been "digitally arrested" for 2 days before the police intervened, causing the criminals to flee.

While no formal complaint was filed, Nagarjuna praised the Telangana Police's recent crackdown on piracy, which led to the arrest of Emmadi Ravi, who ran several websites streaming pirated films. Nagarjuna believes this effort will benefit not only the Telugu film industry but also the broader entertainment landscape.
