- 25-year-old Kashmiri student found dead in Vadodara PG
- Initial investigation suggests natural causes, awaiting autopsy
- Grieving father seeks detailed probe into son's sudden demise

On November 12th, 2025, a 25-year-old student from Jammu & Kashmir was found dead in his PG accommodation in Vadodara's Fatehgunj area. The student, identified as Gatik Dass, was a second-year student at Parul University.
According to the police, Dass returned to his room late on Friday, November 11th, had food, and watched television before going to sleep. He did not wake up the next morning. The PG owner informed the police, who reached the spot immediately.
The Fatehgunj police inspector, A M Gadhvi, stated that the cause of death is yet to be ascertained as the postmortem report is not ready. He added that the initial investigation does not indicate any foul play, and it does not even appear to be a case of suicide. "It seems to be a natural death," Gadhvi said, adding that the post-mortem report would provide clarity on the possible cause.
Dass's father, Ajay Dass, a government officer from Jammu, arrived in the city on November 13th and expressed his grief. He said the doctors and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team have not yet informed him about the cause of death, though they have indicated it may be a case of brain hemorrhage or cardiac arrest. Ajay Dass stated that his son did not have any congenital disease and is seeking a detailed investigation into the matter.
Members of the Kashmiri Pandit community in Vadodara have stepped forward to help the grieving family, and arrangements for Dass's cremation have been made for November 14th.
