On October 4th, 2025, singer, composer, and music director Manas Robin appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the untimely death of beloved Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. Robin, who had earlier stated that he possessed evidence related to the case, fulfilled his commitment by submitting several documents to the SIT.
Speaking to the media after his appearance, Robin expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation, stating, "I have had a detailed discussion with them, and I feel confident that the investigation is moving in the right direction. We are all hopeful that we will soon get the final answer, whether it was an accident, a murder, or a conspiracy."
The probe into Zubeen Garg's death took another significant turn last week with the arrest of his cousin, Assam Police Service (APS) officer DSP Sandipan Garg, who was present with the singer on the yacht in Singapore where he died on September 19th. DSP Sandipan has been sent to a seven-day police remand after being produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
Prior to Sandipan Garg's arrest, the police had detained four other individuals, including the singer's bandmate, manager, event organizer, and a musician, as part of the investigation. Zubeen Garg, known for his work in Bollywood and Assamese music, had died while swimming near an island during a yacht outing in Singapore, where he had traveled to perform at the North East India Festival.
