Boiling Sugar Attack: Murderer Faces New Assault Charges

Axel Rudakubana, who is serving life sentences for the July 2024 murder of three children, has appeared in court on new charges stemming from alleged assaults on prison officers. Appearing via video link from Broadmoor secure psychiatric hospital, Rudakubana faces accusations of throwing boiling water mixed with sugar at an officer through his cell door hatch on May 8, 2025.
During the same period, Rudakubana also allegedly threatened a female officer and threw an unknown liquid at her on May 6, 2025. He is further accused of punching a male officer on October 28, 2025. The prosecution also detailed a charge of possessing a weapon, reportedly sharpened stone shards found in his cell.
Rudakubana's previous conviction involved the murder of nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar, six-year-old Bebe King, and seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe. He was also convicted of attempted murder for the same attack. Following this latest court appearance, Rudakubana was remanded into custody, with his next hearing scheduled for October 19, 2026.
