In Mangaon, police have arrested Durgaprasad Prajapati, aged 24, and his cousin Dineshkumar Prajapati, 27, for the murder of Suman Gopal Yadav, a 30-year-old married woman. The body was discovered dumped in the bushes of Tamhini Ghat on Tuesday, August 26, 2026.
Initially reported as an accidental death, the post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death was asphyxiation due to strangulation. A parallel investigation by the Raigad local crime branch, utilizing mobile tower data, quickly identified the suspects.
Durgaprasad confessed to being in an illicit relationship with Suman. He admitted to strangling her with her dupatta when she demanded he take responsibility for her two minor children after her husband's release from jail. The accused then disposed of her body in the Tamhini Ghat area near Kondethar village.
