A murder convict, Shambhu Aada, aged 35, reportedly died by suicide in Lajpore Central Jail on Tuesday. His death followed closely on the heels of a life imprisonment sentence handed down by a court via video conferencing on Monday.
Aada had been incarcerated since February 2024, following his arrest by Katargam police in connection with a murder case. The deceased was originally from Banswara district in Rajasthan. He had murdered his long-term partner, Radha Charpat, on February 19, 2024. His motive stemmed from suspicion of infidelity. He set her on fire while she slept, leading to her death during treatment.
As per jail procedures, Aada's formal status would have transitioned from undertrial to convict later on Tuesday, pending the receipt of the court's official order. His body is being prepared for handover to his relatives in Rajasthan.
