A grieving mother in Surrey has expressed deep anguish after her late daughter's most treasured possessions were disposed of by a social housing provider. Kerry Blackallar stated she felt as though she lost her child, Liliana, all over again when she learned her keepsakes had been thrown out without any warning. The items included the 23-month-old's favorite toys, hand and footprints, and the very pajamas and blankets she wore before her passing in 2022.
Blackallar had been storing these deeply personal belongings in a neighbor's garage due to overcrowding in her own home. When her neighbor decided to give up the garage space, Blackallar frantically sought assistance from Raven Housing Trust. She reportedly begged the housing association to allow her to take over the garage but was told to apply for alternative housing. Despite repeated calls and requests to retrieve her daughter's items, she was informed within days that everything had been discarded. The housing trust has stated it is investigating the complaint and is mindful of the sensitive circumstances and the impact on the family.
