Summary
- Alleged drug peddler's residence and gym were demolished.
- He was externed from Mumbai for 18 months starting March.
- Property demolition aimed at dismantling drug trade infrastructure.
In a significant move against narcotics trafficking, Mumbai Police have demolished the residence and a gymnasium belonging to alleged drug peddler Yaseen Qureshi, also known as Tasu. Qureshi, aged 48, has been ordered to be externed from the city limits for 18 months, effective from March. This action stems from his persistent involvement in drug trafficking and other criminal activities, with multiple cases registered against him between 2014 and 2026.
Police officials revealed that Qureshi's residence in Vikhroli had been converted into a hub for illegal activities, complete with a high-end gym allegedly funded by drug proceeds. Justifying the demolition, DCP Hemraj Rajput stated the structure was illegally constructed using proceeds from crime. This operation, in coordination with the BMC and Mhada, aims to dismantle the infrastructure supporting the narcotics trade and send a clear message to offenders that illegal gains will lead to asset loss.
The externment order prevents Qureshi from entering Mumbai and surrounding districts, intended to curb further harm to society, particularly vulnerable youth targeted by his alleged distribution network. This action is part of a larger strategy to disrupt the narcotics trade and reclaim areas influenced by such activities.
