A recent investigation has exposed a fraudulent ticket scheme operating at Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) in Borivli. The scam was brought to light on Tuesday when a park visitor alerted a forest official about receiving a torn entry ticket. This discovery prompted an immediate inquiry at the ticketing counter.
During the inspection, a forest official identified nine suspicious tickets in the possession of seller Akash Sardar. These tickets featured distinct print and font variations compared to genuine ones. Upon questioning, Sardar admitted to the tickets being fake and implicated an associate, Ganesh Thakur, as the manufacturer.
Police have learned that Thakur utilized a machine and software to produce the counterfeit tickets. Authorities are actively pursuing Thakur to ascertain the total monetary losses incurred by SGNP due to this fraudulent operation. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full scale of the scam.
