A fatal dispute over a pan of cooked fish has led to the arrest of two men in Mumbai. Afsar, 35, was allegedly beaten and killed by his friends, Suresh and Rajesh, who suspected him of eating their shared meal. The incident occurred on February 24 at their shared residence in Goregaon.
Following the preparation of a fish dish, the three scrap dealers fell asleep, only to discover rats had consumed the food. An argument ensued when Suresh and Rajesh accused Afsar of eating the fish. The altercation escalated violently, resulting in Afsar's death by blunt force trauma to the head with a stone.
The accused fled to Haryana but were apprehended by police. Investigators faced challenges due to the lack of mobile phones or identification among the suspects. However, diligent questioning of local garbage pickers led to their capture.
Rajesh, one of the arrested men, has a prior criminal record, including charges of murder and extortion. The victim's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and further investigations are ongoing.
