Motorist Attacks Road Worker with Chainsaw During Storm
5 Oct
Summary
- Road worker assaulted by motorist in the Highlands
- Victim pushed into ditch while operating a chainsaw
- Suspect described as middle-aged with foreign accent

On Saturday, October 4th, 2025, a road worker clearing trees with a chainsaw during Storm Amy was the victim of a violent assault near Spean Bridge in the Scottish Highlands. According to police, the incident occurred around noon on the A82 road in the Glen Goy area, about a mile and a half north of Spean Bridge.
The suspect, who was driving a grey left-hand-drive Renault van, approached the road worker and forcefully pushed him into a ditch. Inspector Katy Duncan of Police Scotland condemned the attack as "completely unacceptable," stating that the worker was simply doing his job in challenging weather conditions to ensure the road network was reopened.
Fortunately, the victim was not seriously injured, but the fact that he was attacked while operating a chainsaw is described as "outrageous and so dangerous." The suspect is described as a white male between 45 and 50 years old, around 5 feet 9 inches tall, of medium build, and with grey facial hair. He was wearing a blue beanie hat, a black Rab waterproof jacket, and blue jeans, and is believed to have spoken with a French or Italian accent.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspect's vehicle, which is thought to be a Trafic model with a foreign number plate featuring the numbers 7532, to come forward and contact them.
