3 Jul
Summary
- Mother's appeal against murder conviction sentence denied.
- Judge's sentencing decision was found to be justified.
- She was convicted alongside her daughter in February 2022.
An appeal to reduce the prison sentence of Ansreen Bukhari, mother of a convicted TikTok influencer, has been dismissed. Bukhari was found guilty in February 2022 of the murders of Saqib Hussain and Hashim Ijazuddin, which occurred during a high-speed car chase. She received a sentence of 26 years and nine months imprisonment.
Her legal team argued that the sentencing judge failed to adequately consider the coercive and controlling behavior she reportedly experienced from one of the victims, Saqib Hussain. However, a panel of three judges at the Court of Appeal rejected this argument.
The judges concluded that the sentence imposed was appropriate and justified. Bukhari was convicted along with her daughter, Mahek Bukhari, and two other individuals for their involvement in the fatal incident.
