A 49-year-old Massachusetts mother, Janette MacAusland, has entered a plea of not guilty to two counts of murder. She is accused of killing her children, 6-year-old Ella and 7-year-old Kai, in their Wellesley home.
Authorities apprehended MacAusland in Vermont following the alleged homicides. Reports indicate she appeared erratically at her aunt's house, exhibiting a significant neck wound. She allegedly confessed to her aunt, stating, "I wanted the three of us to go to God together, but it didn't work," according to police.
During her court appearance on Wednesday, May 6, MacAusland pleaded not guilty to the murder charges. Police reports detail that she allegedly admitted to strangling her children. Following her statements, authorities discovered Ella and Kai deceased in a bed at the family home, confirming MacAusland's account.
Previously, MacAusland was involved in a contentious custody dispute with her estranged husband. She had been employed as a massage therapist and acupuncturist.
