Summary
- Woman enslaved for 25 years endured horrific abuse, including bleach and being fed scraps.
- The perpetrator, Mandy Wixon, received a 13-year prison sentence for her crimes.
- The victim is now rebuilding her life with therapy and a supportive foster family.

A woman identified as Mandy Wixon, 56, has been jailed for 13 years for enslaving another woman for a quarter of a century. Wixon was found guilty of false imprisonment, forced labor, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The victim, who has learning difficulties, was subjected to horrific abuse, including having washing-up liquid squirted down her throat, bleach splashed on her face, and being made to live off scraps.
In March 2021, police discovered the victim, referred to as K, in Wixon's squalid home in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. K had been passed into Wixon's care around 1996, when she was approximately 16 years old. During her captivity, K was reportedly beaten, had teeth knocked out, and suffered from severe malnutrition and untreated dental infections. Wixon also claimed benefits on K's behalf for over 25 years, totaling more than £100,000.
Despite Wixon's persistent claims of innocence, the victim's statement detailed a life of fear and control, stating her life did not matter. Since her rescue, K has begun to heal, attending college, receiving therapy, and experiencing travel. Her foster mother described K's slow progress in accepting affection and expressed hope for an inquiry into why authorities failed to intervene sooner during K's 25 years of captivity.
