- Police filed a case under senior citizen and penal code laws.
A distressing incident unfolded in Mumbai's Charkop area, where a 72-year-old widow reported being assaulted and forcibly evicted from her home by her daughter. The elderly woman had been living with her daughter for eight years following her son's passing in 2018.
Seeking refuge in Delhi with an aunt due to frequent disputes with her daughter, the widow found the cold weather unbearable and lacked any financial support or family care. Upon her return to Mumbai on October 3rd, her daughter allegedly pushed her out and secured the residence, leaving the mother stranded.
The distressed woman approached the Charkop police for assistance. Authorities attempted to mediate, but the daughter remained adamant in her refusal to take her mother back. Consequently, the police have initiated an FIR against the daughter under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
