A devastating incident has led to charges against an Indiana mother after her one-year-old son was found dead in his crib. Amirah Eziah Moodie, 25, faces a count of neglect of a dependent resulting in death following the tragic passing of her son, Isais Pascual-Hernandez. The boy was discovered motionless after suffocating in what authorities described as an unsafe sleeping arrangement.
First responders were called to the scene on November 14, 2025, by Moodie, who reported being unable to wake her child. Upon arrival, officers found the infant beyond help. An investigation revealed the presence of an oversized mattress wedged inside a Pack 'n Play crib, creating a dangerous suffocation hazard with a fitted sheet.
The child's father had left for work earlier that day, and Moodie admitted to taking a THC gummy due to stress. Autopsy results confirmed the cause of death as asphyxia due to suffocation by bedding, with possible ligature strangulation also noted. Moodie is currently held in jail without bond, awaiting further court appearances.
