Summary

- Mother warned previously about illegal e-motorcycle use.

An Orange County mother, Tommi Jo Mejer, 50, has been charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors following a crash where her son critically injured an 81-year-old man. The victim, Ed Ashman, a Vietnam veteran and substitute teacher, was struck by a 14-year-old boy illegally operating an e-motorcycle in Lake Forest.
Prosecutors allege Mejer was previously warned by sheriff's deputies in June of the prior year about allowing her son to ride the modified e-motorcycle, which can reach speeds up to 60 mph. Despite this warning, she continued to permit its use, leading to the devastating collision.
